Karma and the golden rule

This is “Dixie” and she is one lucky bunny!

Found abandoned and hungry on Dixie Island in the St. Lawrence River (how did she get there?) by my husband who then brought her home in a shopping bag in the hatch if his kayak, this domestic rabbit spent a night in our apartment.

She easily trusted us to feed and to pet her. It was clear that she wanted human contact.

Not wanting to place her in an impersonal animal shelter, my husband showed this picture to a friend with whom he had lunch , and expressed his desire to find a caring home for this rabbit. Surprisingly, our friend sent an email late in the afternoon saying that his daughter wanted to have this furry creature.

Dixie and her new owner fell in love instantly. Dixie now has her own little cage filled with blankets and toys. She has had her nails clipped, her matted fur combed and groomed, and is satisfying her appetite with quality store-bought rabbit food.

I believe in karma and the golden rule…

Do unto others as you would want them to do unto you…

Just a gentle reminder to be kind to animals…and people too.
