“All things are working together for good.”
Romans 8:28
This is a reminder from St. Paul to the Christian community in Rome. His words remind me that there is nothing disorderly about the seeming confusion and chaos in the world.
Admittedly, sometimes it’s difficult to make sense out of what’s going on.
But like the process of developing a painting, it’s not clear how all the elements will come together.
This painting of a sunrise started off just like the mental gymnastics that I go through when I am over-thinking the possible outcomes of various situations in my life. But then, like the sunrise at dawn, there is the reassuring calm and clarity that all things will fall neatly into place…
I hummed Cat Stevens’ song Morning has broken, as I put the final touches on the painting, which now has found a home in Ontario.
“Mine is the sunlight, mine is the morning
Born of the one light, Eden saw play
Praise with elation, praise every morning
God’s recreation of the new day”
And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose.
